No More Stink Eyes

These hot, summer days mean shorter walks, less outdoor snooping and more laying about waiting.  Just woefully waiting, for fun.  I know this because here are the "stink eyes" I've been getting:

Do something to amuse us! We're bored and it's all your fault!

I was in big trouble, folks.  Too many more stink eyes like this and I would turn into a permissive, ice-dispensing, treat pinata.  So it was time for a trip to the dog toy store.  Please note that anywhere you look in the house, there's at least one dog toy gathering dust.  The Nylabones of a few months ago have been chewed down to nubs:

See that little nub of a bone?  Used to be about 9 inches long...Nyxie has thrown herself onto the ground in protest!

We came home with 3 shiny, new Nylabones, and this is what we saw:

No more dirty looks!!  So in honor of good times and playing doggies, we made these:

Play, Dog!  Number 2 in the Stick Dog Collection for Conversation Glass

Thanks for stopping by Arwen's Pack and our shop, Conversation Glass.  We've had some questions about shipping to Canada - we've actually sent quite a few bundles up north to Canada and all the glasses and vases have made it there just fine!  Also, the paw prints and "Play Dog" collection stick dogs can be etched on any glassware in the shop (it just needs to be a clear surface).  We can also etch letters for personalization!

    1. Khyra, I can't imagine you giving mom the stink eye, but then again, you are a husky....lol
We'll be here when you're ready for new glasses! Cheers!

  2. Love those glasses! I'm in the Pacific Northwest, so luckily my dog hasn't been banned from the outside work - that's one thing I'm not missing about midwest summers, haha.

    1. Oh, we are very jealous of you and Rufus! We're dying to get out that way - I think we're more suited to living in cooler temps, having moved here from Maine. After 4 years, we STILL haven't acclimated to MANY things about Texas....**sigh**

Thanks for liking our glasses! Cheers!

  4. Wow, I didn't even know you had a shop! Those glasses are cool - how on earth do you them?? This post is priceless. I've moved this summer, from a very walkable neighborhood, to a MUCH less walkable neighborhood. As a result, Lady, Lucky, and Katie don't get out for walks the same way they used to. I try to make sure we go somewhere to walk/hike at least once or twice a week, but it's not the same! I totally understand the tendency to become a "permissive, ice-dispensing, treat pinata" (that made me laugh out loud!). I never buy them Nylabones, since my last shepherd wouldn't touch them. But now that I'm thinking about it, I don't think I've ever offered one to Lady Lucky or Katie. I don't let them have rawhide, unless it's the crunchy kind - which of course doesn't last as long! They do like pressed rawhide bones, so I get those occasionally. Maybe I should give Nylabone a shot, for those boring days...thanks for the idea!

    1. Yes, we have a shop - we decided to try our hand at becoming self-sufficient with our own business. We love that we can combine crafting with having a conscience and keeping the planet a bit more green.
      Thanks for checking us out!
I remember the post about the bear and hope you haven't moved so far from all that wildlife. After T goes to college, we'd like to move to somewhere more green and wild.
Nylabones are really our mainstay here. They're the one toy everyone can agree they like. Nyxie's favorites are the round squeezable toys (although she loves all toys), Arwen loves her Orange ball only, and Fenway has decided that he likes crinkly toys that make that potato chip bag noise. Or, he'll destroy any other available toy! I hope your kiddos like the Nylabones!

  5. Very nice glasses - yo do nice work.

We do love that header shot - gorgeous!!!

Much the same boredom here. Mom has been trying to walk us at night but the heat is brutal and relentless:(

    1. Relentless is a great way to describe it here, too. Poor Arwen just pants almost non-stop :( Even Fenway, who loves to lay in the sun, looks withered and droopy after just a few min in the window. We need rain. And Fall!

  6. Nylabones are popular around here, especially when I come home with new ones. Glad you found something to keep them amused (and stop all the dirty looks) during the hot weather!

  9. Looks like our house, except the bones only work for about half an hour! I am convinced that if the heat doesn't break that I will be forced to just overturn the kitchen trash for the WDA's entertainment!

    Love the Stick Dogs glasses!

    1. Sue - you're so right. It's really unbearable these days. Even Fenway has shortened his stints by the window sun!

  10. We've been getting the stink eye and the big sighs too. Our boys are also on to us about bringing them home new toys. They know it is just another clever plot to avoid taking them out in the heat!

  12. Hi guys !!
Want great bones !! You are so lucky to have one ! Our human bought one for each of us once but my brother stole mine and he didn't want to give it back... So, our human said no more bones for us until we learn to share !
    It's so unfair, I didn't do anything...

Anyway, you seems to have a great pack, it's nice to read your adventure ! Here it's very hot too but unlike you, it makes me very sleepy and lazy.

I'll be glad if we can be oversea friend (I live in france with me familly), would you be my friend ?

    Slobbery kisses.

    Echo

Pee-ess : Arwen, you are soooo prety...

  13. Beautiful dogs! And the do have some teeth! I need to try nylabone bones, too - right now we have a big bumpy nylabone ring, it is about a week old and so far it is quite sound. Jager also loves his Kong Extreme. No other toys survived...
